Our local universities forge strong links with the automotive industry and associated manufacturing companies in our region, this allows us access to leading knowledge sources for the automotive and manufacturing sectors.

The Ford Engineering Group has established their own Engineering Academy, teaching youngsters aged 16 to 24 the basic engineering skills they needed to get a job in manufacturing in the North East of England. The academy is based in South Tyneside and is supported by a number of other local engineering businesses.

Engineering is an integral part of the North East economy and programs at Sunderland and Fords Academy benefit from strong links with industry and local experts. We can then exploit specific opportunities in the region through institutes such as the Automotive and Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP) which is constantly carrying out research in control engineering, automotive materials, manufacturing and the human factors affecting the sector.

We work continually in collaboration with many local and National companies to ensure that The Ford Engineering Group provide the most up to date provisions which ensures we meet service level agreements in terms of educating our staff, the capabilities of our equipment and the quality of products we have on offer.
