Trainee Quality Engineer
Role and Responsibilities
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of ISO9001 and AS9100 approval at current revision level.
- Supporting the ongoing management and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures and the Quality Management System, in accordance with industry standards, under the guidance of the Senior Quality Engineer
- Ownership of the company calibration process, liaising with internal departments and external suppliers to maintain an accurate and compliant calibration process
- Supporting product inspections, investigations and troubleshoot identified defects, identifying corrective action to address root cause – internal, subcontract and customer returns.
- Liaise with suppliers on queries and documentation amendments
- Support the production of necessary FAIR, PPAP and relevant internal/external defect analysis documentation (i.e. 8D) to the required standard
- Participate in continuous improvement programs and projects, such as SQCDPG/LEAN
- Liaise with plant staff on quality related issues
- Support the production of accurate comprehensive reports regarding non-conformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends for use by all relevant departments
- Promote a strict high quality and defect prevention culture over all sites.
- Work alongside the Quality Manager to audit and inspect suppliers and subcontract businesses to assist in supplier selection
- Ensure all safety rules and standards are adhered to
Essential
- HNC or equivalent in mechanical or aeronautical/aerospace engineering
- Good IT skills in recording, analysing and presenting statistical data
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time management and organization skills
- Read, understand and interpret engineering technical drawings
- Understanding of measuring equipment
- Ability to work effectively and use own initiative
- Good verbal and written communication
- Self-motivated with ability to work unsupervised after training, with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Team player with good interpersonal skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work to a high standard of accuracy within a timely manner
Desirable
- HND or above in mechanical or aeronautical/aerospace engineering
- Experience of ISO 9001 / AS EN 9100 (at current revision)
- Experience of Quality Management systems.
- Experience of presswork and press tooling, CNC and Manual Machining
- Experience within Aerospace and/or Automotive sectors.
- Experience of Inspection processes

Dayshift: Monday to Wednesday 07:00 – 17:00 Thursday 07:00 – 16:30
